FARES & TICKETS

Simply insert your payment (cash only) into the fare box, located next to the driver, upon boarding. Please use exact fare, neither the fare box nor the bus driver are able to make change. For those eligible for reduced fare, we encourage you to apply for a reduced fare photo ID. If you are transferring, present your transfer slip to the bus driver upon boarding. If you are using a 10-ride bus pass, present it to the driver to be punched. Passes can be purchased either from the MATS drivers or at the Herman Ivory Terminal, 351 Morris Street. Transfers are free and valid for 30 minutes and must be requested upon boarding. They are intended for use to complete a one-way trip and are not valid on issuing route or for return trips. Persons transferring from a MARC route to a MATS regular route will not be charged additional fare. Persons transferring from a MATS regular route to a MARC route will be required to pay $1.25 or $.60 in additional fare. Reduced Fare: The Reduced Fare is available to seniors (age 65 and over) and persons with disabilities with a valid MATS Reduced Fare Card. Seniors may be asked to show proof of age and are encouraged to apply for a MATS Reduced Fare Photo ID. NOTICE TO PASSENGERS PAYING DISCOUNTED FARES

Old, Non-Photo MATS Discount-Fare Card expired on December 31, 2017.

As of January 1, 1018, to access MATS reduced fares eligible disabled and Medicare Card customers must apply for, and be approved for, a new MATS reduced-fare card. Seniors are also encouraged to apply, but may instead continue to show a photo ID as proof of age.

Applications for a new MATS reduced-fare card are available now from any MATS office, or at the link button, below.

Monday – Friday 6:30am – 10:40pm
Saturday 9:30am – 5:40pm
MARC Routes: 6:45am – 6:15pm, Mon-Fri
MARC Montague routes does not run Saturday-Sunday
No Service on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Limited service on the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
